Copyright Etiquette and Crediting Images - Click here for Guidelines and Best Practices

1. Be sure to be logged in.*

2. Mouse over Plus icon (+) in menu bar and click Add News.

An Add a News Article popup will appear.

3. Upload Date - this is when you want your article to appear on RunnerSpace

4. Creation Date - this is when you want your article to appear to have been created (particularly useful for uploading news articles for past years).

5. Attach a File - here you can upload your document to be downloaded by other users.  Click Attach a File, and Choose File button and Attachment Title field will appear below.  Click Choose File to select your file from your computer or storage device.

Title the document in the Attachment Title field.

Maximum document size is 6MB.

Supports most common file types such as: .xls, jpg, .png, .pdf, .gif, .doc, .docx…  Once your first document is upload, you can upload an additional document.

6. Categories and Folders

Category - Required

Other fields are not required, but help keep your news articles organized in our system.

7. Tags

Add appropriate tags that will apply to the news article or documents you're uploading (i.e. news from the Oregon Relays can be tagged Oregon-Relays as this tag will apply to all the news articles and/or documents).

8. Attach to Profiles

This is where you attach your news article to an event, group, or profile (i.e. news articles from the Oregon Relays can be attached to the Oregon Relays event site).  Type in Oregon Relays and a dropdown list of possible matches will appear.  Select your event from that list and it will appear in the list of pages you are attaching your news to.  You can attach to more than one page at a time (i.e. if all your news articles from the Oregon Relays are of the South Eugene track team, attach your news to South Eugene as well).  After reviewing your news articles, we will approve them and they will appear on the pages you've attached them to.  Attaching your news articles to other pages is important in spreading your news beyond your own profile and sharing them with the running community.  You can be a vital part of community event coverage just by attaching your news to pages we have already created - most meets, races, groups, teams, etc. have already been created in our system!  If you're attaching to your own event (one that you have created and are the administrator for the page) and you have official news for the event (i.e. Schedule, Entries, Results, etc.) - you can check the "Post As" box in the attachment window after selecting your event so your news will appear to have been posted by your event.

9. Title (Required)

Title your news article - click here for Guidelines and Best Practices.

10. Link:

If you're posting an article from another source, fill in the website link here - click here for Guidelines and Best Practices.

11. Description

This is where you can type or paste in your news article.  This field is not required as some news will simply be uploaded file attachments, but even in this case, you can do both.

Click here for our Text Editor tutorial to maximize the customization of your article.

Click here for our Guidelines and Best Practices.

12. Add Article

Click the Add Article button to upload your news article.

A Choose Images to Attach window will pop up.

13. Adding an image is optional.  To upload an image: Click Browse to find the image you want to use from your computer or storage device.  A browsing window will pop up, select your picture and click Open to select.

Click Update Images to upload your image.  Your image will appear in the list of images, you may upload more than one, and you may select your default image, delete an unwanted image, and add descriptions for each image. Click here for Guidelines and Best Practices.  Click Update Images after making any changes.

Click Close to exit the Add News Article tool.

Congrats!  You've just added a news article.  Find it on the pages you've attached it to, or on your profile page!
